Trail Report 2-4-15
After three 6-8 inch snow events in the last 10 days the trails are right where we’d like them to be starting out February. It took a few grooming trips, some traffic, and cold temps but it’s safe to say all of our trails are in excellent condition. The forecast is calling for a few more inches before the weekend and with cold temps in place it looks like we’ll have great riding for a while. We ran the groomer with no drag up to the halfway point on Coburn and will groom Friday night with the drag. We are still working on getting a machine all the way to the summit. We have a club raffle for Ski Doo Mini Z kids snowmobile. Tickets are $20.00 and all proceeds go directly to our trail system. You can purchase them at Lake Parlin Lodge, Inn By the River, Hawks Nest, and 15 Mile Stream.
Drawing will be March 21st. Please buy some tickets and SUPPORT THE CLUB.ITS 89 from the Lake Parlin Connector to Grand Falls is groomed and in great condition.

Trail Report 1-29-15

After a long dry spell it seems that winter is finally going to kick it into high gear. We ended up with 8-10 inches from the storm 2 days ago and are expecting the same tomorrow with more possible early next week. All of the thin spots should be covered up nicely and surrounding areas that didn’t have enough to groom should be back on track. We groomed yesterday and will be going again tomorrow night for what looks to be another great weekend ahead. Just another reminder…Go SLOW and use caution on any plowed sections. It’s important that we are mindful of the landowners and don’t interfere with their work.

ITS 87 from the intersection of ITS 88 south to the Forks is groomed and in good condition.

ITS 89 from the Lake Parlin Connector to Grand Falls is groomed and in good condition. Use caution on the steep section going up over Coburn Mtn. It’s still icy as that area was windblown and didn’t accumulate much snow in the trail.

ITS 86 from the Forks to Grand Falls is groomed and in good condition. Along the river will still be a little thin today but should be in great shape after tomorrows storm. We still have a plowed section 2-3 miles long to deal with for about another week or two. We thought the operation had moved out but they still have some cleaning up to do. PLEASE GO SLOW AND YIELD TO TRUCKS AND EQUIPMENT!

The Coburn Connector is groomed and in good condition.

The Enchanted Loop is groomed and in good condition.

The Lake Parlin Connector is groomed and in good condition.

Get out and enjoy the fresh snow!

We Did Get Rain But The Riding Is Still Good!

Trail Report 1-20-15
I know a lot of people have been waiting to hear how we fared after the mess on Sunday. We did end up getting all rain but the trails held up very well. We went out with all of our groomers last night and the result is a very flat and very hard trail. We do have some trouble spots that I will detail below but all in all the trails are very good. Snow cover on the sections of trails that are roads, which is about 85% of our system, seems the same as it was before the rain. There were some corners that are icy but not nearly as but as I expected. Cooling and lubrication are going to be the issue for a few days until the trails get some traffic. Studs and ice scratchers are recommended. There are also a few areas where water flowed into the trail. They will be frozen for sure but caution should be taken because some are on sections of trail that are otherwise perfect and you will come up on them quickly. The bottom line is…I’ve seen better trails but I’ve also seen much worse and if you want to ride we’ve got the place to do it. As far as I know all neighboring clubs went out last night.

ITS 89 from intersection of Lake Parlin Connector to Grand Falls is groomed and in good condition.

ITS 87 from the intersection of ITS 88 south to The Forks is groomed and in good condition with the following exceptions: The woods section north of Rt 6/15 had a lot of water yesterday. We didn’t send the groomer through that section hoping it would freeze so it is at least passable by sled. Probably the worst trouble spot on our trail system. It’s only 3/4 of a mile so once you get through it you’ll have great going. The powerline section is also thin and rough so take your time and watch for rocks.

ITS 86 from The Forks west to Grand Falls is groomed and in good condition with the following exceptions: The southernmost section along the river is not groomed and very thin. We started grooming from the Enchanted Loop west. It is passable but not good. ITS 87 to the Enchanted Loop to ITS 86 is the recommended route out of town. The section between the Lower and Upper Enchanted road also had water issues. It should be frozen and passable today. We are still dealing with the 3 miles of plowed road but it won’t be plowed anymore so once we get snow it should be good again.

The Coburn Connector is groomed and in very good condition. There is a 1/4 mile of road that was plowed but is not being used anymore. We were able to pull some snow off the side so it should be no issue at all.

The Enchanted Loop is groomed and in good condition. There is a ditch that opened up with the rain but it is passable.

The Lake Parlin Connector is groomed and in good condition.

Trail Report 1-14-15
As we head into the 4th weekend of the snowmobiling season it’s hard to imagine having better early season conditions than we’ve had so far. Overall the trails are good to excellent with only a few thin rough spots to deal with. Groomers have been running and will go again one more time Friday night to get the trails set for what should be a great weekend. As I write this, the forecast is for 1-2 feet of snow Sunday night into Monday. We can only hope this forecast stays on track as it will fix any bad spots we have and add to the rest of it going into February. We’re heading out in the morning to cut downed trees on the Coburn Summit trail to open it up for the groomer. I’ll post tomorrow after we’re done and give a report on that trail.
Reports from almost every rider that I talk to are that the trails are excellent. The warmer temps on Monday before the severe cold really helped to set the trails up well. A little more snow on top will be icing on the cake!
ITS 86 from The Forks to Grand Falls is groomed and ranges from fair to excellent. The section as you leave town along the river needs snow and is rough in spots. From the Lower Enchanted Rd. to Grand Falls is very good. We are still dealing with 2-3 miles of plowed rd but should be done with that this week as the contractor is moving out. PLEASE USE CAUTION WHEN CROSSING THE LOWER ENCHANTED ROAD!! There was a close call with sleds crossing that never looked before they went. It is marked very well but it only works if you follow the instructions on the signs and STOP!!ITS 89 from the intersection of Lake Parlin Connector to Grand Falls is groomed and in good condition.

ITS 87 from the intersection of 88 south to The Forks is overall excellent. The one mile wooded section as you enter our trail system from the north still needs snow but is easily passable. The rest of it is about as good as it gets

The Coburn Connector is groomed and in good condtion.

The Enchanted Loop is groomed and in good condition.
